Active Laboratories APEX Review

If you’ve foundyourself on a Active Laboratories APEX review, then you’ve probably come here form Amazon.

Active Laboratories aren’t a major player in the supplement industry (at the time of writing). So you’re unlikely to have seen APEX in your local supplement store.

But it is a very popular product on Amazon right now, appearing on the first page for testosterone booster searches.

So what is APEX all about?

Who is it for?

APEX is described as a “max performance testosterone booster”.

Active Laboratories APEX Review

According to the manufacturer, users can expect the following from APEX:

  • Decreased body fat
  • Increased muscle mass
  • Maximized endurance
  • Enhanced sex drive
  • Rapid results

This is an impressive range of benefits.

Of course, Active Laboratories make it clear that these benefits arise from APEX’s ability to increase free serum testosterone levels.

The claim that you can expect “rapid reaults” is very interesting.

The best testosterone boosters can take a little while to really get going.

The effect of addressing deficiencies is indeed instant, but the deeper improvements you get from genuinely great test boosters can take 5 weeks or more to set in.

This is setting itself up to be a very impressive supplement then.

But is any of this legit?

Or is it all marketing hype?

Does APEX really boost free testosterone levels?

Does it do so rapidly?

Is it safe?

Is there a better option out there for guys wanting to put their natural test levels through the roof?

Active Laboratories APEX Formula

Let’s take a closer look at the APEX formula. Here is the label as it is displayed on the official website:

Active Laboratories APEX formula

APEX contains 8 ingredients in total; about the right amount if you ask us.

We are also given all of the individual ingredient serving sizes. We shouldn’t have to praise this, but many manufacturers still hide behind prop blends!

Unfortunately though, the ingredients chosen by Active Laboratories are less than ideal.

In fact, we don’t think it’s a stretch to say that APEX is composed almost entirely of low-quality, weak, unproven ingredients.

Active Laboratories make out that their product is leagues ahead of other natural test boosters on the market today:

Not only is this information misleading (we don’t know who these “leading competitors” are), but the table actually doesn’t make APEX look too good if you know what you’re looking for.

Other stacks have good reason to not include some of the ingredients listed there!

Yet the story isn’t ALL bad. We have to find the silver lining with every product. Here is a quick run down of the main benefits of Active Laboratories APEX, and the main drawbacks.

Main Benefits

The main benefit of APEX is the vitamin/mineral content.

In each serving of APEX we get at least 200% of our RDI of Zinc, Vitamin B6, and Pantothenic Acid.

Zinc deficiencies are rife in the Western world at the minute as our diets have become so devoid of nuts, seeds and beans in favor of sugar and processed meat.

Zinc is an absolutely vital link in the testosterone production chain. Without sufficient zinc intake, your body simply can’t produce enough testosterone.

We think this is easily one of the most common reasons why young men see their free testosterone levels fall below their optimal range, yet it is one of the easiest things to rectify.

200% of your RDI of Zinc is more than enought o quickly get your zinc levels back up to normal, which will then allow your body to maximize test production.

If you already consume a lot of zinc then you won’t notice a major difference, but if you do have a deficiency (as most men do) you will notice a slight improvement very quickly.

Vitamin B6 and Pantothenic Acid both contribute to overall good health, energy levels, and food metabolism.

They aren’t necessary components of a natural testosterone booster like zinc, but they aren’t bad ingredients either.

We’re afraid that’s it as far as serious benefits go. Now on to the main negatives of APEX.

Main Drawbacks

Where to begin?

The overriding problem with this product is that the ingredient selection is absolutely awful.

None of the ingredients are powerful free testosterone boosters in our opinion.

None of the ingredients have ever been shown in laboratory settings to significantly effect hormone balance in the blood.

Seriously – not one.

In fact, some of them have been examined through a clinical trial and found to be decisively ineffective.

Take Horny Goat Weed. We see this stuff in every other test boosting stack nowadays.

But we’ve got no idea how it has become so popular as we are yet to see any evidence proving that it works.

And this is the main ingredient in APEX; each serving provides 700mg of Horny Goat Weed. That’s 700mg of an ingredient that, as far as we’re aware, does next to nothing for free testosterone levels, libido, or anything else for that matter.

APEX also provides 350mg of Tribulus Terrestris.

As we’ve pointed out in several other reviews, tribulus terrestris has been thoroughly studied by clinical researchers, and it has so far always been found wanting.

Check out this study for a good example of what we’re talking about.

Here, researchers decisively concluded that “Tribulus terrestris steroid saponins possess neither direct nor indirect androgen-increasing properties”. You can’t get much clearer than that.

We can keep going on through the Active Laboratories APEX formula, but we don’t see much point in doing so.

Do your own research and you’ll see that every single ingredient is either totally ineffective for raising free testosterone levels, is incredibly weak or unreliable at doing so, or is simply unstudied in that regard.

This makes the comparison table shown above even more confusing.

Active Laboratories think it is a point of pride that their “leading competitors” don’t share their ingredient list.

We think it is a good sign for these “leading competitors” that they don’t share this exact ingredient list.

Active Laboratories APEX Side Effects

Not only does APEX seem pretty useless when it comes to enhancing testosterone levels, but it also carries some fairly worrying side effect risks.

Most notable here is with DIM.

This stuff is found naturally in things like broccoli and cauliflower; a fact which might lead you to believe that it is totally safe to consume in large amounts.

DIM is usually prized by supplement manufacturers because it seems to be able to make estrogen less potent. Many manufacturers suggest that it is potentially effective for keeping your sex hormones balanced.

Yet when consumed in large amounts, DIM actually seems to promote estrogen synthesis and conversion!

WHy would someone include this when making a testosterone boosting supplement?!

Sure, it might help balance hormones in the blood. But is a weak estrogen-suppressing effect worth the risk of actually encouraging estrogen levels to rise?

The potential side effects of this include increased fat gain, decreased strength, and so on.

While the other ingredients are natural, widely used and generally well-tolerated, that doesn’t mean that they are 100% safe for every individual.

Don’t rely on the assurancdes of strangers on the internet, and don’t believe everything that supplement manufacturers tell you.

Talk to a qualified health professional before continuing! Your usual doctor will give you the best possible advice as well as raising any side effect issues particular to you.

APEX Review Summary – Should You Buy It?

If you’ve skipped the rets of our Active Laboratories APEX review and come straight to the summary, you just want to know if you should buy it or not, right?

The short answer to this question is “no”.

The long answer is “not if you only want to spend money on the best ingredients that have been robustly proven by scientific enquiry”.

The formula is composed of nothing other than low-quality, weak, and unproven ingredients.

At least one of the ingredients has actually been shown in multiple studies to not work at all.

Another ingredient has potentially estrogen-promoting effects. Why this is ever included in a testosterone booster we do not know.

Active Laboratories APEX does not deserve the premium price tag it comes with.
